...And the Rest!

The third installment of the great poster reduction has a little bit of everything. Classic horror and science fiction, auteur, and even some exploitation. From the '20s to the '90s, there's bound to be something for everybody, so be sure to check every page!

Photo Title/Description Price
ACID, DELIRIO DEI SENSI - (1968) Original Italian release. Set of 8.

One of the most coveted of the LSD related titles, these large photobustas are a great piece to add to your collection. The visual movement in the design is an effective mirror of the dosed characters as they struggle in their "trip" through acidland.

$225
ANNEE DERNIERE A MARIENBAD, L' (aka LAST YEAR AT MARIENBAD) - (1961) French original, 46 1/4x63".

Very important Alain Resnais, nouvelle vague film, and almost impossible to find. Beautiful artwork by L. Brini. Linen backed.

$350
ASSASSIN OF YOUTH - (1937) Original release, 11x17" pressbook.

One of the rarest, and certainly most difficult of the reefer madness films to get any material on. This is particularly surprising since the pressbook shows that there were two completely different poster ad campaigns available, one in a traditional style, and one in a much more lurid "roadshow" design.

The pressbook is complete, and in excellent condition.

$175
BUSINESSMEN (aka DELOVYE IYUDI) - (c. 1963) Original english language release, 32 ¾ x 46 ½" USSR Sovexportfilm.

Fabulous colors with a striking image of running-dog pigs ready to exploit the workers. Actually that's not even close. The film is a comedic re-telling of three of capitalist stooge O. Henry's short stories. In fact, the "Ransom of Red Chief" segment even made it onto the beloved '60s program, "The CBS Children's Film Festival" hosted by the most honest film presenters ever, Kukla, Fran, and Ollie.

Classic inept propaganda. Dated in the image. Rolled, edge tears, invisible water stain.

$85
CHILDREN OF THE DAMNED - (1964) Original release, 14x36" insert. Rolled, excellent.

Those damned children are back. Very cool design.

$70
CRASH - (1996) Original French grande, 47x63". On linen, but unrestored.

Sensuous image for Cronenberg's erotic masterpiece, is doubly dramatic in this larger format, and must be seen to be believed. This has got to be one of the best posters for this important film.

$95
DEALING: OR THE BERKELEY TO BOSTON FORTY BRICK LOST BAG BLUES - (1972) 1 Sheet Original US advance release.

Superb cannabis art showing the demon weed in all its glory. This advance style is far better than the general release one sheets. Why there are dorm rooms without this poster is beyond me.

$65
DEMENTIA 13 (aka HAUNTED AND THE HUNTED, THE) - (1963) Original Australian daybill, 13x30". Two folds, excellent condition.

Amazingly grisly poster for an early Francis Ford Coppola joint. Interestingly this was renamed for non-US markets although according to the poster it is filmed in "Dementia 13", whatever that is!

$60
DR. PHIBES RISES AGAIN - (1972) Original US release, 27x41" one sheet.

While not in the same league as the classic "Abominable Dr. Phibes" one sheet, this poster for the sequel has a very surreal "Chien Andalou" sort of feeling. A terrific example of '70s horror. Folded.

$25
ELEPHANT MAN, THE, ET AL - (1980)

Lot of assorted programs, various sizes.

During the early 1980s, opening night screenings often included a program. Many times these featured the same artwork as the poster, but they also could use entirely different graphics. These are fun pieces because they much easier to frame, transport, and collect than their full sized cousins.

$15
ENLIGHTEN THY DAUGHTER - (1934) 11x14" Original US release (x2).

Oh, why did an uncaring mother and too busy father not inform their daughter of the "facts of life" before poor daughter left for college? She was unprepared for the sinful nature of youth, which would prove to be the undoing of her maidenhood.

It's the border art that really wins the prize with these lobby cards. The young daughter in her lover's false embrace, she is literally awash in the sins of the jazz age, what with their automobiles, short skirts, and alcohol (this was the post-prohibition era, after all). Having the poor dazed and confused young thing in the lower left just caps it all perfectly. Clearly these cards has seen better days, yet in some ways that just adds to their lurid charm.

$45
ERASERHEAD - (R1990s) Original, Dolby re-release French grande, 45 1/2x62". Folded

David Lynch's debut film turned independent cinema on it's ear, creating a nightmarish world inhabited by plodding everymen. Seen in person, and hanging on the wall, this iconic image from the iconic film is simply awe inspiring in this large format.

In heaven, everything is fine.

$75
ET DIEU CREA LA FEMME (aka AND GOD CREATED WOMAN) - (R1964) Original re-release French grande, 46 1/4x62 1/2".

Absolutely magnifique Brigitte Bardot in the Roger Vadim classic. Luscious Rene Peron artwork that is surely one of his most inspired creations. Linen backed, displays beautifully.

$225
EXORCIST, THE - (1974) Creepy set of 8 original release US lobbies, 11x14".

These lobbies set just the right tone for this classic horror film. Exploding on the scene and becoming one of the first of the modern "blockbusters" that so changed Hollywood, "The Exorcist" raised the bar for all horror movies going forward.

$80
EXORCIST, THE - (1974) Original US release 27x41" one sheet. Folded.

There are few modern horror images as iconic as the artwork for "The Exorcist," as it nicely captures the mystery, tension, and dread that makes the film so successful. William Friedkin used sound (this is truly a film that must be listened to) and subliminal inserts to ratchet up the spine tingles in a completely modern way. Very few films deserve the "ahead of its time" designation, but I think "The Exorcist" is one of them.

$55
FANTASIA - (R1970) Original US re-release 1 Sheet.

I wonder who the target audience for this ad campaign was? Disney, in a desperate attempt at trying to cash in on the youth market that made millionaires out of hippie filmmakers like Dennis Hopper, tries to lure the rest of the flower children into a screening of their masterpiece, "Fantasia." While not overtly suggesting that the audience might care to 'enhance' their experience, the famed kiddie kompany was clearly looking to expand the minds of their traditional base.

Happily, they were successful, as this is undoubtedly the grooviest poster ever released by the magic kingdom. Neatly trimmed on left side to 27 1/8" wide. Inexplicably, these were printed at 28 x 41" from NSS. To the positive, this will now fit an ordinary one sheet frame.
